I played Rugby at school and then in the Royal Marines, after retiring from the military I played club veteran rugby for awhile until my son started playing junior rugby which got me involved in coaching rather than playing. Eventually I was asked to referee two junior sides who didn’t have a referee, it wasn’t pretty and really wasn’t sure of what I was doing but everyone was very kind and told me I’d make ‘a good ref’.Encouraged by that I took an RFU Referee Course and 16 years later I am still on the pitch. I started with the Hampshire Society, then went London SW for 5 years and now I am back in Hampshire. I love my rugby and enjoy contributing to the community level game.
