Committee Update July 19

We have completed our first committee meeting of the new season and I wanted to keep you up to date with what was being discussed.

End of Season Dinner:  There was no doubt that this was a success however given the number of members that said they would support it at a training meeting this did not translate into real numbers.  We need to understand why this was the case to ensure that any future event is fully supported and is what the membership wants.

Training Meeting & Conference: We discussed the content and format of the next Training Meeting and Conference.  Please ensure you have the dates in your diaries, more details to follow:

  • 27 Jul Conference at HMS Collingwood (YMOs from 1000, All from 1200)
  • 19 Aug Training Meeting at Winchester.  YoYo will start at 1830 with the main meeting starting at 1930 where we will cover the new high tackle protocol in detail.

Recruitment:  There is likely to be more games this season and with the leveling of the leagues after the first season there is potential for more competitive derbies.  It is expected that we could have a deficit of referees verses number of games.  Please can you all be positive about recruitment and in the first instant signpost any potential new referees to me.

Fitness Testing:  More to follow in a separate email.

Walking Rugby:  We have had a request to officiate at a new form of the games “Walking Rugby” at a festival. It will be at Salisbury Rugby Club 12 to 6pm on July 14th.  Please contact Peter King (peter.king441@btinternet.com) or by the Salisbury RFC website and linked FB page.

PDP:  For those thinking about promotion and progression start thinking about drafting your PDP ready for submission.
