A Graduate of Loughborough College, Terry has built a distinguished career in rugby union as a player, coach, and elite-level administrator.
On the Pitch: Played for Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints, Hampshire, and East Midlands.
From the Sidelines: Coached Northampton Trinity and Northampton Saints.
Club Leadership: Appointed as one of the first full-time Directors of Rugby at Newbury RFC in 1990. He successfully guided the club to the National Leagues and oversaw their historic move to Monks Lane.
Terry joined the Rugby Football Union (RFU) as part of its new professional directorate and held several key leadership positions:
Director of Twickenham Services (Appointed 1997)
Director of Community Rugby and Operations, leading game, coaching, and match official development.
Tournament and Competitions Director, where he collaborated with Premier Rugby and the grassroots game to overhaul the competition structure.
RWC 2015: Successfully led the RFU’s winning tender to host the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Terry has been a major force in the global governance and structural evolution of modern rugby:
World Rugby/IRB Working Parties: Helped introduce the World Sevens Series, the Under 20 Rugby World Cup, and the Global Structured Season.
Board & Committee Leadership: Served as a Director on the ERC Board, Chairman of the ERC Referee Committee, Chairman of the Churchill Cup, and a FIRA/AER Representative.
Governance & Welfare: A founding Trustee of the Rugby Football Foundation and actively involved in setting regulations for Anti-Doping, Laws, Player Safety, and Competitions Management.
Following his retirement from the RFU in 2011, Terry returned to his roots on the pitch and continues to give back to the game:
Refereeing: Active referee with the Berkshire and Hampshire Referees Societies.
Administration: Serves as the Re-appointments Secretary of Hampshire Rugby Referees.
Mentorship: Acts as a qualified Match Observer/Adviser, dedicating his time to supporting volunteers and match officials in clubs, schools, and colleges throughout Hampshire.
